Did you know, even birthday celebrations are a little bit different in a Montessori classroom?
At CELC, we love to celebrate the children in meaningful ways. On their birthday each child is asked to bring in a poster with pictures from each year of their life. Parents write a short description of what their child was like at each age (what milestones occurred, the child's likes, etc.). During the classroom celebration the teacher lights a small candle to represent the sun. The birthday child holds a globe and "revolves" around the sun for each year of their life on Earth while their classmates sing with them.
It's a very special ceremony for the child and such a cool way of honoring the years and accomplishments of each little person.
